Its main focus is on new developments in genome bioinformatics and computational biology. - National Research Council Ford Foundation Diversity Fellowships
The National Research Council of the National Academies offers Predoctoral, Dissertation and Postdoctoral Fellowships for research-based study in the sciences and the humanities. Qualified applicants must be US citizens or nationals who are committed to teaching at the college or university level and to increasing diversity in the professoriate. These Fellowships are portable and provide a generous stipend as well as an institutional allowance for predoctoral fellowships. Questions can be directed to 202-334-2872 (tel) or infofell@nas.edu. - National Research Council Postdoctoral Research Awards, Senior Research Awards, Summer Faculty Fellowships, MS Level Fellowships and Internships
The National Research Council of the National Academies offers 300 competitive awards annually for independent research at the postdoctoral level and beyond, for research to be conducted in residence at participating U.S. government laboratories. Opportunities for research are in all areas of science and engineering, and many are open to non-US as well as US citizens. Awardees design their own projects to be compatible with the overall interests of the sponsoring laboratory. Annual stipends for recent Ph.D. recipients range from $38,000 to $65,000 depending upon sponsoring laboratory, and are higher for additional experience.
Summer Faculty Fellowships are awarded for research from eight to twelve weeks at the US Environmental Protection Agency or the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH). NIOSH also offers Master's Level Fellowships and Internships for one year and twelve weeks respectively for individuals with Master's Degrees in public health and related disciplines.
Annual application deadlines for all programs are February 1, May 1, August 1 and November 1. Detailed program information, including instructions on how to apply, is available on the NRC Web site.
